How I did it: I went cold-turkey. I decided that I wanted to do it and just did. I already eat a lot of fruits and veggies (being a vegetarian and such) so I just stopped cooking them. I kept a blog to keep track of my ups and downs, and invested in a cheap blender. I hated not being able to eat bread which I guess I've got a passion for, but the cravings settled after about 7 days. I would still want some, but I wouldn't be trying to clothesline anyon… Read how I did it…
How I did it: started at the end of 2005, but had to make repeated breaks during a jobless era, a loss of a friend, a pregnancy, and a relocation across country. however, on may 24th, 2009 i was officially a college graduate. went to the university of phoenix online. it's easy, flexible, and great. How I did it: with a car *snicker*my husband got transferred from virginia to washington state. we took two weeks to get all the way. we pit-stopped in california for a few days to visit his family. i also got mugged in new mexico. not too fond of that state anymore. regardless, it was a beautiful and humbling adventure. yeah…i’m making this a goal even as i procrastinate doing some work that needs to be done. oh, the irony!
this is something that i’ve always wanted to do. i learned the basic notes on a piano, but never learned how to read actual music. i used to practice on this old electric organ my mom has (before it got too dreadfully out of tune). i wasn’t the best, but i could definitely pound out a delightful version of “mary had a little lamb” and the beginnining of fur elise (only the slow, painstaking likeness). however, it was soothing. and i think that will practice, i could learn. i’m pretty good at picking up notes (thank you, momma, who can teach herself to play a song by ear)so i think i have a knack for it. sigh if only i was better at time management…
