This waa genuinely worth it. Absolutely amazing. We were advised to get up very early in order to dodge the bulk of the crowds, and I can be homicidal when forced to get up early, but when we got there it was all worth it. The most amazing, milky-white marble, the delicacy of the detail, the calligraphy on the walls – just breathtaking.

When I say “I’ve done this”, I mean I sort of always have. I think if you’re visual (whatever that means) it helps – I look at a paragraph and the nouns jump out in a block. It makes pictures, if that makes sense. I scan so quickly it’s become a habit – and often I have to go back and re-read a book because I worry I’ve missed something. Sorry, not much help here. But it’s not that great a gift either…
For god’s sake, I’m over 40. I sulk like a 13-year-old. I really need to stop doing it as it’s neither adorable nor particularly fun for anyone else…
