Being a person who in the past has not been very assertive. My goal is to reclaim my power and realize my goals and aspirations. As a queer guy, it can be difficult to assert yourself in a social structure that devalues your masculinity because you do not fit the norm.
Queers can often feel that they have to overcompensate, or worse remain invisible or passive to males in society. Time to take back the power.
As an Australian citizen I regard the detainment of David Hicks as a source of shame for this country. If Mr Hicks is guilty, then bring him home to Australia for a fair trial.
If Australia truly is a democratic nation, then we must provide David Hicks with the same rights enjoyed by his fellow Australians.
