We had to wait until we owned our own place, because we could never find a place that allowed dogs. We bought a house in December, and got a puppy in June once school was over (both my husband and I are teachers). She was worth every second of effort. She even got very ill as a young pup and needed hospitalization and constant care. But now she is 6 months old and strong. It was worth every second of worry! It’s great to know we saved a shelter dog’s life, especially one that had little odds of making it. She sleeps in our bed each night and greets us with a wiggly butt when we come home.

How I did it: My sister was studying abroad there, so in my time off this summer I decided to just go! I bought my ticket in May and went in August. It was very affordable once I got there, and I spent very little. I also contacted a few places ahead of time to visit, like a school for street children and an elephant retirement camp. Read how I did it…
The biggest expense is the plane ticket, but once you’re there, you can do it! It is affordable! Most of the towns and cities had auto rickshaws that cost less than a dollar to go a long way. Food was cheap, as was lodging. If you know someone who is staying there, figure out a way to visit. You will save on lodging and have someone to help you feel more comfortable in a new and different place.
I really want to feel comfortable when I walk into my bedroom. In order to do this, I need to reorganize my closet so that it holds two dowel rods for hanging, not just one. I also need to get a tall hamper with a cover so my dog doesn’t keep taking all my dirty clothes. Finally, I need one more dresser so that I have room for things. One small dresser isn’t doing it.
Things I already did to improve on this:
Bought a rotating shoe rack that holds all my shoes off the ground.
Got an organizer for my earrings, bracelets, and necklaces.
Got rid of some clothes and old jewelry.
