feel my grief
I haven't yet managed to cry

although I can feel it lurking inside me. I’m sure if I can just let go and cry I can start to get through the grief process and get back to remembering the good things about my father and how he’d want me to experience the moment and embrace life as he did.

get over this injury (read all 2 entries…)
It's so frustrating!

I’ve had an issue with inflammation of the sacroiliac joint for about 16 years, a big reason why I was a couch potato for a good part of the last decade, but now I am determined to end that pattern. Now it flares up worse than ever. I can barely stand in the mornings, hobbling around like a 90 year old woman. My doctor has been through all the non-narcotic treatments and they aren’t working. The only non-narcotic with any effect is Toradol injections and those aren’t meant to be used long term, as in for more than three days. Vicodin works for the pain, but I really hate taking any narcotic: vicodin, demerol, any of them. I’ve tried chiropracty and steroid injections to no avail. My insurance provides a discount for non-traditional treatments, so if my doctor can’t come up with a non-narcotic solution when I see him on the 20th, I’m going to find an acupuncturist in hopes of seeing some improvement through a more natural means. I want my body back.

scan photos of Dad for his memorial service and put them together on a collage
Very cathartic

It turned out beautiful. All of us, my stepmom, brother, sister-in-law, husband, and oldest daughter worked on it together. We used a tri-fold board and painted it with a suede texture paint, then arranged the photos along with some scrapbook cutouts that represented his passions and hobbies. I think he would have definitely approved of the end result, very manly and western.
