I’m looking for a song that I’ve heard over the years and don’t know the artist or title.

Here’s what I remember:
The singer is a man.
He refers to a girl in the song – Danny/Dannie.
Danny has a dog.
There is reference to going to the beach/Mexico. (possibly a van?)

In the song it seems like the guy has been in love w/Danny and Danny comes in and out of his life a lot.

I think some of the lyrics are:
“Oh Danny, you always knew how to..”
