I think I would say my favorites of the year were Major Pettigrew’s Last Stand and the Hunger Games trilogy. With special recognition to two non-fiction books, Outliers and The Psychopath Test.

I had forgotten about this movie, and was happy to find it at the local library. I liked it quite a bit, and it was nice to see Will Ferrel in a more subdued role. (Not that I don’t love it when he’s chewing the scenery.)

I’ve been meaning to watch this for a long time, after seeing the lackluster Hispanic remake, Tortilla Soup. It’s charming and sad. The food prep, for once, did not leave me hungry.
