We found a great small farm business class. It is very intense, but our business will be so much better for it. We are focusing on getting the mobile repair business up and running. So far, we have worked out that our business is feasible, surveyed people with ag equipment, researched our industry and our competition, and figured out our pricing and marketing. We are currently working on cash flow predictions for the first year and finalizing our business plan. We are also working on getting insurance quotes. We are probably going to set it up as an LLC. Oh, I also designed a logo, business cards, and made a quickie website! www.bearfootmobile.com

How I did it: When my husband and I got married 10 years ago, our finances were a mess. We both had been struggling to make ends meet and were behind on paying bills. Between us, we had student loans, legal bills, store credit cards up to the max, medical bills, and a lot of smaller bills he inherited in his divorce, some of them with collection agencies. We also got a car loan a couple of years later. It took us several years, … Read how I did it…
How I did it: I have used this plan for several years now. It is very simple. Financial software is nice, but not required. List all of your bills and when they are due. If your family has multiple paydays, figure out which payday to pay each bill each month, taking into account when it is due and how much you will need to pay out of that check. Figure out how much money you need for necessities between each payday. This may va… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I listed all of the things I wanted to do before I died. Then, I organized them in a timeline that made sense. Some things I could do together and others I should do at different stages of my life. Some things would be easier when I'm young and others would be okay if I'm older. Some things weren't actually things to do - they had to do with the types of relationshipsor lifestyle I wanted.Having a plan ha… Read how I did it…

I learned how to set up a blog on WordPress. I used these videos as a guide. http://www.becomeablogger.com/video-4.html You could use a free blogging platform instead, but I want to be able to advertise and make some money from my blog. Basically, you have to get a web host and then link your domain name to it. Then you install WordPress, a WordPress theme, then plug-ins that help with functionality. I really got hung up on trying to change the theme. I’m kind of stuck on that it doesn’t display correctly when I look at it from work, but it does at home when I’m working on it. I still have yet to write my first post.
My husband and I want to run a farm, a mobile welding business and a stock photography business. He would do the welding and I would do the photography. The other day, we went to a class on starting a business run by the Small Business Development Center. It was mostly an overview, but they gave us lots of reading material. Tomorrow we will be going to an orientation for starting a small farm business. The welding falls under that since he will be focusing on agricultural equipment.
