Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Bike to work (read all 2 entries…)
hurtin unit!

So I biked to work everyday for 6 days in a row and it finally caught up to me yesterday. I had biked to work and back-20 miles total-for 6 days in a row and damn! I did too much, too hard, too soon…my body just fuzzed out on me. I participate in a lot of physical activities after work, and after my last ride, i then went for an hour run-becuase i do train for marathons-and I was spent this am. I got to work and i feel full of hot air-literally! My body is soooo tired that i am just getting hot and cold flashes-and my tummy is very pissed at me, and my muscles feel like how it feels when you have been swimming all day in the hot sun! Definetly need to hydrate more, eat more carbs for sure, and maybe cut back to 3 days a week and alternate the days so that my body can adjust. Once i have done that for a bit, i can probably up the anti….ouch!

First part Done!

So I planted california wildflowers yesterday in 24 different little pots-i dumped a whole bag of seeds that could probably germinate 6000 square feet-i am thinking that something should grow out of these 24 baby pots! I just have to keep it moist for the next week and from there it is just letting them root and get big so i can transplant them into something larger….biggest opstacle is the sun and my cat right now. Either they will be fried or they will be eaten…not sure which is worse!

Visit all the National Parks
Santa Monica...

Well it is pride weekend this weekend so i am not making it to Santa Monica until next weekend…once i do, it will be the last park in central and southern california that i needed to hit, from this point on-besides yosemite which i see every year-it is everything north of the yosemite/mammoth area for California. I am going to Maine in August, sure would be nice to hit Arcadia National Park while we are there!
