visit my Grandma weekly before she dies
September 29, 2007

My grandma died on September 29, 2007 at the age of 91, three months exactly short of her 92nd birthday. One of the best things I have ever done was to make sure that I spent as much time with her as possible before she passed away. Every week I went over to visit her and Grandpa, and when she got sick about seven weeks ago I did whatever I could to be there whenever I had a spare moment, and her last week while she was in the hospital, I was there with her any time I could be. Every conversation we had I was aware that it could be our last, so I made sure that we never left anything unspoken.

The last thing my Grandma said to me was how much she loves me and how wonderful I am. I was able to tell her I love her one last time and I am so grateful for all the time we had together before I lost my amazing Grandma.

read The Stranger by Albert Camus
Well, I don't get it...

...it’s definitely worth doing, because it makes you THINK…but I am still not sure what I think of it. It’s a strange sort of book, and I think I need to read and re-read it several times over before I really get it. It had a feeling of detachment throughout, which I expect was intended, but it’s difficult to read something when you really don’t feel connected at all to the main character. In fact, sometimes I wanted to kick him!

A friend of mine LOVES this book, which is why I felt I had to read it, to understand what he sees in it, but I really don’t get it.

get a car that needs less gas
hopefully it's worth it!

June 12: I traded my gas-guzzling Dodge Caravan for a VW Jetta and so far so good, but it’s only been three days! I am sure I will see a difference soon enough, as the Caravan cost around $75 to fill up and the Jetta is only $40. Hopefully it will get good mileage and a tank will last a long time – either way, I’m saving money and that can only be good!

August 14: Yes, it has been SO worth it! Now gas is not the biggest thing I spend my paycheque on, and the last time I filled up it cost less than $40 and lasted 9 days. I am THRILLED with the trade I made!
