I really liked the book. I think It was interesting to see the other side of the story. The story of American soldiers and their families who didn’t want to participate in the war, and who actually feel guilty about killing innocent people.
It amazed me to understand that most of the American army are young boys and girls who volunteer only to get a college education, and have no relation what so ever with wars, or what’s happening in Iraq and Afghanistan. They don’t want ot be part of any thing what so ever.
I also felt that the American government fooled them, just like it did for the rest of the world.
I just hope that we don’t do the same mistake that they did to us. I mean, after 9/11, almost every Arab and Muslim were considered a terrorist, and that’s not a bit true. Now after reading the book, I now wish that after those photos from ABu Gharib prison, and related stuff, we don’t think of all the Americans as murderers.

How I did it: I never thought that my husband would finally agree on going to the opera, but finally we did. We went to the Cairo Opera House, and watched "Romeo & Juliet" Ballet. It was AMAZING. I was really happy. The music, the dancing, the acting, the clothes, the colors....All was sooo magical. Oh, and we had to wear formal clothes :) Another part of the Opera Magic:) Read how I did it…
How I did it: It was great, more than I ever thought It would be.We have the 2009 FIFA world cup under 20 going on here in Egypt. Some matches are held in Cairo, others in Alexandria, others in different cities in Egypt. We were in Alexandria for 2 days, and my husband finally decided to make this wish come true. He took me to the soccer match between United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Honduras. IT was GREAT. We sat with UAE fans. I had the UAE flag colore… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I went to a place where they sell some plants to put in the balcony, I bought 14 different ones, small and big. I don't know the names, specially in English, But i got them anyway. And then the next day I went an bought some decent pots to put the plants in so they would look nice. That was last week. Some flowers are actually starting to blossom, I'm sooooo happy. And i’ve started lesson. Hope this would be good
I bought that book years ago, but I’ve decided to read it. Actually I decided to read anything in my Journeys Mansura-Cairo weekly, as I really need a distraction in the way, and it helps me to sleep. And I’ve decided to start with that book. It amazes me how many American soldiers in Iraq and around the world were against the war. Really no one should ever judge a whole country by its leaders, or by its politicians, sometimes they really don’t represent their people.
