Hurricane Gustav knocked out everyone’s electricity in the Baton Rouge Area. This is a little unusual but not unheard of. The unheard of part is that it is taking days instead of hours for some people to get power and weeks not days for others. so a few nights after the hurricane passed, we had a clear night and still no power in the city. Even if it was only for one night, i lived where i could see the stars at night.

How I did it: We decided late last season to move our vegetable garden from our back yard to our front yard. The front yard gets full sun and we weren't having very much success in the back yard. We started bed preparation in the fall and planted in the spring. We are enjoying the fruits of our labor now and it is awesome! Read how I did it…
last night i finished going through my photos. i have a huge stack of photos to get rid of. most are going to go in the garbage but some are just duplicates of nice photos so i am going to try to send those to the people who are in them.
i also started going through the memorabilia. i got rid of a bunch of cards from graduation, wedding, graduation… i kept ones that had personal notes, but if it was just a signature i chucked it.
i still need to decide if i am going to do albums or scrapbooks. i am leaning towards scrapbook and the memorbilia that doesn’t make it in, i will throw away.
I swear every week my recycle bin is full of paper. i had no idea all that paper was even in my house! i purged out my files and for my birthday i asked my mom to get my files in order. i have everything in broad categories but getting everything in order in labeled folders is the next step. my mom said she would, so now we just have to work out when.

i got a little behind on my daily housework this week-end but once i get caught up i think i am going to tackle the family room. it is so much easier to clean the living room since i deculttered that i can’t wait till the whole house is done!
