You have to train yourself to do this, and it can be kind of silly at times, but it helps you to think in a more positive way. Start by putting everything in a positive way. If someone takes your parking spot, say “it will be nice to walk farther.” At first, it will feel really unnatural and you’ll probably think of things that make you laugh (“I’m so glad the cat peed on my expensive area rug… I needed to clean it anyway!”) but you’ll find yourself really feeling more positive and that’s good for stress, blood pressure, etc…

I have 3 kids, and baby #4 is due in August, 2005. I love being a Mom and I’m actually a little sad that this will be our last child (but come on! We would have to buy a schoolbus just to drive anywhere!)
The childbirth thing is not so fun, but it is amazing to experience. I don’t know how to explain it. I hated the labor part, where you’re just in a lot of pain and waiting for the baby to come, but when you get to the third stage and you know the baby’s going to be in your arms within minutes, it’s a rush you can’t get anywhere else.
I think this is one of the best stress-relievers there is. There’s something about the intimacy, the focus, allowing someone to control you to a certain extent… just letting go and experiencing something while the world melts away… it’s the best. Really! I don’t care who thinks I sound like a sleaze, I love sex. LOVE it!
In order to make it truly great, you have to communicate with your partner and be very specific about what you want, and they have to not mind being told what to do. You also have to not get too disappointed when it isn’t great… because, think about it… any sex is better than no sex, right? It’s all a learning experience, anyway. If you have that kind of cooperation, it will be great.
