I guess what I do for a living could be considered writing, but working for a bank can be soooooo numbing. I try to be creative marketing financial products, but sometimes I just want to slip into the decades old traditional ways of advertising. Tried and true is certainly easier and I don’t have to fight a board of directors to do something “different”. I want to make a living writing what I want to write. Self employed? Maybe, but that’s terrifying right now.
I’ve been working on this novel for almost three years and now that’s almost done, I can’t seem to finish it. Must be some kind of block that’s holding me back, but damned if I know what it is. I KNOW what the ending is, I know how to get there.. but every time I sit down to write, I find myself daydreaming, distracted, doing anything else I can besides write. I surf the web, get lost in what I find (the Tudors! And who knew there were 11 WW points in a Margarita?), look out the window, think about planting a garden right there, does the cat look thinner? and the afternoon is gone and nothing is done on the book. Damn! I HAVE to take a deep breath and finish this thing.
