Number one rule to a rave:
1.MAKE SURE YOU WILL ENJOY THE GENRE BEING PLAYED.
(if you don’t like the music, wtf are you doing there?)
2.TAKE FRIENDS/ MAKE SURE FRIENDS WILL BE THERE
(if the music is bad, or if the crowd is bad, atleast you’ll have friends to be with you.)
3.ITS NOT ALL ABOUT THE DRUGS
(many people don’t take them. and many do. YOU’RE incharge of yourself. and so is security. but get info about drugs, and NEVER take them under peer-pressure)
4.INFO-gathering prior will help YOU tons
(whether it’s direction to the place, or the kind of music, or the dj line-up, ask friends, go to forums. find out info about whos hosting the event and if their previous raves were awsome or shameful
While still technically bedroom DJ, Every once in awhile i get guests spots @ clubs. But i enjoy raves for the definite atmoshpere.
The money in this endevour is astronomical. $100-200 for records every two weeks to a month. $10-$20 weekly on mp3s. $400-500+ on turntables. $300-600+ on a standard mixer….well you get the idea.
But while the profit for a budding dj is bare bones, the reward is when a massive group of people are moving to your beats, and at the end of the night, one says..”dude. you’ve changed my life” That and chicks, and free booze, and entrance to events. :P
