So I have great news to report. I have used even MORE items in my collection of beauty products. It has been much easier since I have them all housed in one area. Can’t miss them. I am working on consolidation for the makeup now- giving some away, purging old products etc. This will more than likely take place after the new year.

This is part organizing/ part trying to solve the beauty product excess issue
I bought a clear storage container (similar to the one above)from Wal-Mart to organise my eye, lip and face products. It puts all the makeup I own in ONE place so I don’t have to search in this drawer or that bag to find it. I am embarrassed to say though that I own WAY WAY WAY more of all three of these than I need to. I’ve heard you should purge your stuff periodically -to keep from catching da cooties. I did a little of this while I was putting stuff in the container, so maybe I don’t own as much as I think.
The only thing I wish I could add in there was my brush roll. I am sure I can get the brushes in the container separately, but I like the whole brush roll concept. Maybe I will just leave it on the top.
My goal for purchasing this is to help cut down on purchasing LIKE or extremely similar items. I literally have 8 shades of brown lip gloss. Not a proud moment
It is no secret that I have moved more than my fair share. I have moved because I was broken into (on the second floor – BOTH times), because I didn’t like a location ( though now that I think of it the location was why I moved there) or my favorite – the rent went up! Needless to say with all that moving, I have acquired quite a few things some I love like my books and some, like my paper trail….well not so much. I have a crazy amount of paper in my apartment.
I am planning a move of a different kind (more about that in the future) and I do not want to take along things that aren’t necessary – translation – plain ol JUNK.
I decided to go through one of my four plastic rubbermaid tubs. The heaviest bag in there was a Dave n Busters bag with my AIG/Valic retirement statements. Wanna take a stab at how far they go back….I wont keep you guessing. They go all they way back to 2002!
I went through each one, separating the envelope from the statement, making it easier to shred.
Also in that bag was birthday/holiday cards from friends and family. Another reason I hold onto stuff until I am able to go through it all – I found a birthday card from my mom that I had read but evidently put away from 2002 with a nice neat $50 bill in it. I also found some 33 cent stamps too! Can you imagine if I had just thrown it all out? Yea me neither. So my next goal is to organize my books. I plan to put them in paper boxes with a list of contents on the inside of the cover. I realise this doesn’t protect against critters but I will have to tackle that problem when I actually store them.
