After writing two dissertations, I have come to the conclusion that it’s not so much about being inspired or creative as it is about having the energy and the motivation to actually sit down and write it.
It doesn’t have to be perfect the first time you write it. Many people have admitted it’s a good idea sometimes to just write as many ideas as you can, either from memory or from quick research. Then, you can back them up, link them together and edit the whole text to make it sound straightforward, clear and persuasive.
Anyway, here are a few tips on how to write your dissertation:
http://www.successfulacademic.com/articles/Dissertation_tips2.htm – Contains a section on how to make the whole process easier
http://www.learnerassociates.net/dissthes/ – quite sophisticated (you can tell it’s written by a well educated person), but contains quality advice
http://www.lazysmartstudents.com – this is actually a very good book (despite the cheesy marketing behind it) that contains powerful study skills and “reverse engineering” techniques that help you understand what teachers want to read in your dissertation
http://www.dissertationhelp.net/index.html – several dissertation samples and dissertation timeline samples
Last but not least, I wish you all good luck, tons of motivation, inspiration, energy and less procrastination!
