We got Brandon (14) into our local school system just this year. From there he can stay with the high school or go on to a really great vocational school near us. After four years he will leave with a trade.
To get the other two (7 and 5) into the same school system, my husband will have to get custody of them first since their mom shows no signs of wanting to better her life.

This is so worth doing. My life has become easier since I took over the family finances. Of course part of the ease of this has been that my husband is back to work at a great job so we have some good money to budget with. I love lists so I started by making a list of all our bills and dividing them into monthly and weekly categories so that I could prioritize them. Having an excel worksheet of what bills are due when makes everything even easier. I need only reference that to know that this week the car insurance is due and for this amount. The last time I paid it was this date, and the next time it’s due will be this date. Knowledge really is power when it comes to budgeting.
I’m putting this as completed. We have a home now. A permanent one. It’s not a house we built, but it’s one we have contributed to and are paying for and have modified to suit our needs and the needs of our four children. I can’t say we did this completely on our own as part of it was because we came into a small amount of money, but we did set a goal and now we’ve achieved it. I am living in the town I grew up in, in the house I grew up in, just as I always hoped I would. It’s a dream come true.
