Running has always been something that terrifies me. Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always had the WORST stamina and I just plain hated it. I then went to a sports oriented high school, which meant we had at least 3 or 4 phys. ed. classes per week and were tested once a week on our cardio by running either 15-20-25 or 30 mins. Needless to say, I was usually running FAR FAR AWAY from the people trying to make me take the test!! All in all, I think the most I ever ran was 12 minutes when I was about 13. Not very impressive! Anyways, I’ve got some bad habits to kick, smoking weed being the one that’s holding me back most (DUH!), but I really feel it’s important for me to get over myself and just plain do it. It’s just running for heaven’s sake! It can’t possibly be that bad, right? Right. :)
The first step I’m taking towards this mighty goal is to run a 5k next saturday for charity here in Montreal. I’ll be accompanied by my sister, who has run a half marathon before, so at least there will be moral support. I know she was just as bad a runner as me when she started out and now she inspires me to face my fear. Hurrah for my fabulous sister! And hurrah for the 5k!........... I think. YIKES!!
