Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

become ambidextrous
Me

This is always something I’ve wanted to do, although I’m predominately right handed.
I even remember the day when my teacher (going back about 13 years now!) came round asking which hand I use to write, and I told her “some days I use this hand and sometimes I use this one”, however I was told “you must use one or the other”, and I later settled for right like most. But when I look back at my schoolbooks at the time, it seems evident I used my left hand quite frequently due to the differing slant of my handwriting, and perhaps it shows I could well have been more ambidextrous if I continued working with both hands.
My left handwriting now doesn’t differ too much to those old year 1 schoolbooks today, but my right is much neater and faster (obv). I also play the electronic keyboard which does require a fair whack of your left hand, and recently switched my mouse over to the left (and proves quite useful to write with my right!). Its something which would be quite useful I should think.

Upgrade to Windows Vista
Untitled

It would be nice but MY ONE YEAR OLD computer won’t be compatible, unless I splash out on some new hardware!

Read the entire Bible
Hah

This would be interesting, but it would have to be an updated one (such as GNB) as that ancient language is ghastly!

write a really nasty complaint letter
Darn ITV!

I want to write to ITV Plc about how they have killed ITV1, formally the UK’s second most watched channel. I have a site about it because they won’t listen – www.noitv.co.nr

contribute to wikipedia
Its ACE

Wikipedia is ACE! Once you start; you can’t stop, and I’ve also moved on to the WP parody – Uncyclopedia, which is equally as addictive!

use linux
Linux

I used Xandros for a while, and it was godly awful. Like a slug, Xandros Desktop takes a whole 3-5 minutes to boot fully, then a further 60 seconds to log in. Only thing that ran fast on it was Mozilla Firefox and some form of an Office suite. I’m more of a Windows person ;)
However, I have not seen other forms of Linux as yet, so I can’t really pass comment on the main bulk of Linux OS’s; Xandros is just one of many!

make netscape my default browser
Its ace"

I converted to FireFox shortly after I had a malware infection from IE. However, shortly after, Netscape 8 was released and it offered much more security on top of what is already included in Firefox. My Netscape is set to emulate all pages in Firefox format by default, and those that cannot are emulated in IE6. Also on Netscape, the tabs look a little prettier and it is a browser I have known for years. Basically, it is FireFox shoved in a Netscape window, but the security and extra features Netscape offers on top of the security of the Gecko engine wins me over.
