Wouldn’t it be great?
Just standing there, between the orchestra and the audience, while I sing Lazy River, Mack The Knife or a humble rendition of New York, New York. I love swing music, and I love the way some crooners sing it, specially Sinatra and Darin, the way they engage the audience, the way they “force” them to tap on their feet and make them wanna dance.

This is what I want to do, to sing a bunch of old standards with a swing orchestra in front of an indulgent crowd, willing and able to forgive my lack of skills in singing.

I’m in the middle of my 4th year (just one more to go) and I’m very proud and happy about how it’s going on. Specially because of two little things that happenen a couple of days ago.

1. At a family party I met a relative whom I didn’t know which is son of an Austrian, thus he speaks fluently German and we (my girlfriend and I) could chat with him for quite a long time. It’s probably the first real conversation we have in this language.

2. As a homework for the classes, I started reading my first real, “actual”, non-simplified, german book. And I’m understanding most of it. Not all of the words, not all of the frases, but the global meaning and the plot.

So, for the first time in my life, I feel like I speak german. I feel myself in a whole new level and all the efforts through these years of learning become, suddenly, full of meaning. Plus, it gives me more strength to go on and improve my niveau.

Way to go! :-)

Doing good, so far… I seem to be able to confront those bad moods that hang on some other people’s faces, just with a smile and the will to help.
It’s fun though…there are people who, as soon as they find that you’re struggling to cope with their bad vibes with a smile seem to get harder on me and start trying to be more rude, just like if they felt angry on me for not being in such a bad vibe like they are. :-)
It’s like their secret weapon, just like if they wanted to be happy over my own corpse :-)
Well…I won’t let them win. I can’t stop them from doing so, but I won’t let them erase my smile. You bet!
