How I did it: i have been a smoker for 20 years. i quit once, for a year, when i was pregnant with my daughter. that was 14 years ago....i didn't think it was possible for a book to help me.... but i read this book called "The Easy Way" by Allen Carr. it really is a great book.... it helped me quit without feeling like i was going to kill someone! i read it, smoked my last cigarette and that was that.no cutting down, no patches, no gums, no spray… Read how I did it…
How I did it: It took me only three weeks. I saved almost every penny that I made, and sold some things. When I told my daughter, her response was "Mom, you just made me the coolest kid in school!" She was so excited to be able to tell her friends that for spring break she was going to London. I cannot wait to take her over and show her my favourite places! Read how I did it…
How I did it: i did a big job for SxSW and was paid with 2 wrist bands that give entrance to all the events for the week. they are worth $250 to 300 a wrist band. I sold both of them on craigslist for $300 and went out the next morning to buy my welder, gloves, a really nice helmet, a spool of flux core, and an angle grinder.i am happy and making art! i am moving to England in September. so i am getting rid of almost everything. i hope to have everything gone by the end of July.
i am giving things away and selling things.
all my welding sculptures, my derelict motorcycle, and many of my other cool odds and ends have been gifted to my friend Vince, who is the owner and creator of The Cathedral Of Junk.
my antique furniture is being given away to other friends.
i hate to part with these things, but it feels good to purge everything and start anew.
we leave for London on the 10th.
we have our Eurostar tickets booked for the 16th to Paris!
my daughter’s birthday was Feb 18th, and the look on her face when she opened and read a card that said “A Day In Paris” was the best thing i have seen in a long time…. she couldn’t believe it and cried she was so happy!
i haven’t been able to give her very many things over the past three years, it’s been a difficult time for us. but things are looking up and i really wanted to make her 13th birthday special.
i am so excited for the london and paris adventures for her… only a couple more weeks!
