Find a permanent home base
Not what I expected

I didn’t expect it, but I guess I have ended up with my childhood home as my permanent home base. I was living here and caring for my elderly mother. I expected Medicaid to take her house when she went into a nursing home, but now it appears that I can keep it, if I can catch up the house taxes. A free and clear home? Duh – doing it.

I have bad credit and will probably never be able to get a mortgage. So this looks like my best-and-last chance to own a house. The house I didn’t like when I was growing up – LOL!

But now I can change many of the things I didn’t like, slowly, as I have the money. I already had it insulated through a funding program for the elderly when Mom was here. It is centrally located for travel, on a bus route, basic stores are walkable. A quarter of an acre to garden. 4 BRs and one bath – adding a powder room and renovating the full bath are very, very high on my list.

Even if I decide to live elsewhere for periods of time, I could rent this and have it as a fallback residence.

Find the right therapist
Closer

I started a search. Spent about 6 visits with a woman that just wasn’t a good match. Had about 4 visits with one that was closer to right, but then I lost my insurance coverage. I hope to get coverage back again – so I will think about what I learned in the meantime.

I don’t need medication, so my goal is to find talk therapy with someone that is a good match of personality, liberal with regard to lifestyle, and collaborative rather than prescriptive.

Blog my 50th birthday year (read all 3 entries…)
Too little, too late

OK – this just didn’t happen – nor did much of anything else I thought I would do in my 50th year. I am now well into my 51st year. But before I forget, I will at least write down some of things that did happen. So, I am substantially reducing the scope of this goal.
