learn to ride a motorcycle
Just do it... but be smart. 2 years ago

Since I was in High School, I’ve always wanted to ride a motorcycle. For every reason a guy would tell you; they’re fast, sexy, attract attention, etc, I wanted one. Then one day while at a friend’s house, she offered me to ride her Honda 250 “for a spin” in her yard. I was petrified. One, all my friends were around and god forbid something happens to make me look like an idiot. Second, I knew nothing about how to ride one, so why would I arbitrarily jump on this one? That day really effected me.

Fast-forward eight years later and I saw a motorcycle training class in local community college mailer. After a bit of research, I signed up for the class and never looked back. In fact, I’ve went to three classes (passed all with flying colors). I haven’t bought a bike because I fear the drivers in Northern Virginia and as you can tell by my list, I have a lot more things I want to do and experience.. organ donor will be my last.

The best advice I could recommend would be to look on the Motorcycle Saftey Foundations website (http://www.msf-usa.org/) to find someplace near you to take this class. I actually traveled south three hours and made a mini vacation out of it.

If you have any doubts about taking these classes (cost $50-$100), don’t. I’ve seen just about every type of person go through it and almost everyone passes. People who I thought would NEVER pass did so well that they beat experienced riders that were court ordered to take the class! I’m even proud to tell you that on one trip I organized (the third one), my deaf friend (photo attached) was taught how to ride and passed!
