Yowza, I just spent the last 4 hours getting my ass handed to me trying to develop in XCode. I am definitely in way over my head. I thought being a somewhat proficient PHP programmer would make this pretty easy, but Objective-C is A LOT different! Reminds me of the time I tried to learn how to use Visual Basic.NET. Yuck!
Oh well, I’m going to take a break and dig in some more later. I tried the first two tutorials on www.iphonesdkarticles.com and kept getting bugs that killed my app. The annoying part was that I copied the writer’s source code EXACTLY and my app still wouldn’t work. Going to give developer.apple.com/iphone a try next.

This has been one of my goals since I first listened to The Bends way back in 2004. My friend (at the time, now my wife!) let me borrow her CD and I really started liking the band’s sound. We caught the concert last night at the White River Amphitheater and Radiohead puts on a great live show. I’d recommend them to anyone.

OK, after about a week of watching the Getting Started videos in my free time, I’ve finished them all and am totally amped to start coding and playing around in XCode. Gotta say, the videos were very helpful in getting a big picture of what’s possible developing for the iPhone (except the really long one, which focuses on developing for the Mac and not the iPhone, and the presenter kept running into bugs along the way!)
Next up for me is to play around with some sample code in XCode just to see if I can get various samples working. My first reference outside of the http://developer.apple.com/iphone is this site http://www.iphonesdkarticles.com which is totally devoted to tutorials for iPhone. Thanks to Buster McLeod for pointing this one out in his iPhone goal. (Which inspired me to start up 43Things in the first place.)
Peace, I’m out.
