i’ve done this a few times now. there’s a great snack/candy/toy store with some really crazy japanese/chinese snacks. it’s also worth finding for the knockoff toys with fantastic engrish printed on the box. (see pic for the Versatility Lampion with 360 Rotatory! mini r/c car i bought)

the underground asian supermarket is another treat. it’s a bit hidden and hard to find, but walk down those steps to the basement level and you’ll find live frogs and turtles, wild and weird drinks, a nice selection of dishes and cleavers, and another wall of crazy candy and snacks!

don’t forget to look for dessert and pastry places that sell steamed buns. the ones with sweet pork are good but the ones with sweet red bean curd are better!

totally unbelievably unbelievable. a year after stepping on my iBook in portland (had to be hooked up to a CRT for the past year) and three months after my hard drive died, i finally did it.

i got the new LCD and the new hard drive. i bought some tools and junk like that. i settled down and dug in my heels. it took three days, slicing my pinky pretty badly, a huge amount of patience and some luck, but i am now back in the saddle.

i’m working on installing all the old software i use, getting updated with new stuff, getting back into flickr, setting up online banking and stuff like that.

i’m pretty proud of myself for doing this with no experience (with laptops) no instructions and no help from anyone. my computer and i are rad together.

it’s such an amazing piece of hardware. i’m taking a lot more photos and emailing them up to flickr and Les Blog. i’m workin on getting it all set up still, but i’m gonna use it to track my finances, keep me reminded of birthdays and events, stuff like that. plus it has tons of rad games. : D
