I think my last card will be gone by the end of the year. But I’m a bit scared of tax day next year. 2 of my cards were gotten rid of via settlement. I hadn’t even thought of that as income. But apparently, it is…

Well, a few weeks back I made 13. & in a multi-set I made 17 (8/6/3). So progress is being made. Not much, but some.

Well, I recently paid off another card account. There’s another $1500 down. Of course I managed to add a home equity loan to pay for the new windows I had installed. But in theory that will pay for itself. Eventually.

Well, the card I settled ( http://www.43things.com/entries/view/1550141 ) & paid off ( http://www.43things.com/entries/view/1687851 ) finally sent me the letter that says it’s done! One down, a few to go. I think I’ll have at least one other easily gone by the end of the year.

A week or so ago I did 11. It’s not very consistant though, my most recent set was back to 8. But overall, I’m getting better.

But 9 is better than the 6 I maxed at a while ago. The problem is that I set some interim goals that I have totally not reached. :^/ In fact I’m over a month behind. So, I think I need to make the goals more realistic … but I also need to work harder & do them a bit more often.

Well, the last payment was deducted for the settlement thing I mentioned 5 weeks ago. So now I just need to keep on them to make sure they hold up their end. 1 Down!

I’ve been sticking to my schedule mostly. :^) I’ve been making it 2 or 3 times a week at least. & the results are starting to show a little. Especially my arms & shoulders … a thinner “protective layer” there I guess. The weight I can lift has gone up several times in the last month, so either I was being lazy when I started, or I’m making that quick initial improvement. My body weight is staying steady, which is just fine with me, cos that means I’m replacing my fat with muscle … woohoo!

So far I’ve made it to the gym 4 times this year … not bad, since they’ve only been open 9 days. I’ve also established a schedule for when I will workout @ the gym, or do yoga. & I’m trying to blog about it as well, I figure if I make it public, I’m more likely to want to keep it up.

I actually had a card offer me 15% as a settlement back in August. It puts a nasty mark on your credit report, but 15% paid over 6 payments vs having to pay it for the next five years or so, made the mark worth it.
Of course they screwed it up. I had payments scheduled already so they just tacked on 2 more, or said they did. It turns out the incompetent on the other end of the phone never documented anything. They started calling me in Dec to schedule some more payments & I explained the situation to them. They claimed they found some record of it. Then I started getting calls at the end of Dec asking again to set up the Jan payment. This time they couldn’t find any record of it. I got transferred to at least 2 different departments, to some sort of manager. This manager had me fax him the letter I received. Turns out they were closed the day he told me to fax it, and the fax number he gave me wasn’t anywhere anyone could find, and he went on vacation starting the day he told me to fax it.
I finally maybe got it sorted. I talked to someone that worked for the incompetent manager, who gave me a new fax number. They got the letter, and authorized the offer. They even took it from the date it was given so that my last 4 payments counted toward it. Or so they have said. I have to call back after the Jan payment is made to verify everything & make sure I get stuff in writing this time.
The moral is keep everything. Especially if you do a settlement. And weigh the mark on your credit carefully.
