Since adding this “thing” to my list of 43, I have created a “prayer chain” of individuals I call on when I need help. Whether I need prayer for my family, a friend in need or my own soul, it’s amazing how these people just sort of come to the rescue. Perhaps numbers matter. I don’t know. But I’m a believer. I’ll never question the power of prayer again. And it has a place in my life from now on. Period.

It wasn’t easy. But I raised $4,700+ for my own fundraising account and shared some of the remaining $300 between the fundraisers of team members. Talk about feeling accomplished!
Next time, I’m shooting for $7,500!
Well, I have to say that I grossly underestimated the enormity of this event!! It was the most physically and emotionally challenging thing I’ve ever taken part in. In the beginning, I was asked several times: Why? Why the 60 miles? Why sleep in tents? What about the blisters? Why the intense need for Biofreeze and a volunteer staff of chiropractors and ambulances? WHY?? I still don’t have the words to answer the questions, but I do get it. I understand it. And I feel like a different person somehow by saying I did it. Maybe it was the crowds cheering along the route. Or the way the crew would throw their hands up to high-five us when we crossed the streets. Or the way total strangers handed us Popsicles and sprayed our legs and arms with mist. Or maybe it was the way the survivors and their families sat out in chairs for hours, just waiting for us to come by so they could thank us for doing something we take for granted the other 362 days each year… WALKING. I feel like a better version of myself. Aches and pains aside, I feel like a million bucks. And I can’t wait to do it all again next year!!
