Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Need vs Want

From now on, when I go on a shopping outing, I will shop with a ‘list’. (even if it is just a mental one)

I will ask myself – Is this a want or a NEED?

No more – Oh I have to have this, this is such a GREAT deal!!

My new motto – do I need it or can I do without. If in a week I still want it.. then I’ll go get it..

So Close...

I’ve registered for my last 3 classes for the Fall session, in my certificate program! Wow.. hard to believe….. Dec 17 will be either a day of celebration or a major ‘sleep in’!

Feeling proud of myself for first trying ‘a’ course, then going full tilt. It’s been hard at times, working full time and taking courses at night when your over 50.

So many questions, and worries: Can I do this? Will this get me a good job? Am I too old to be doing this? Why did I do this to myself?? (taking 2 courses at one time is not wise – at least for me)

Good grades, and a lot of hard work (for me, as my brain shuts down about 9pm! when I need to be up by 5 or 5:30) but determined to get this certificate..

Eye on the prize! :)

Catching up time...
  • now into week 2 without coffee (I had a minute sip one day to keep the head-aches at bay!) Monumental! I’m now drinking herbal teas, and much much more water!
  • trip to the doctor for my back pain, that once again became a ‘reality check’ of what is actually going on. Much needed.
  • learning to let go of what I cannot change (work wise)
  • self-care…
  • last minute coffee invitation (though it didn’t pan out) it lightened my mood for a moment.
  • eating better. NO fast food at all for a week..
  • sleeping better past few days.. (pain meds can sure help there!)
  • registering for my last 3 classes in my certificate program. Marking my calendar for Dec 17 to CELEBRATE!
  • being proud of myself I just can’t wait for June 26, for my summer break (from school at least!!)
  • sunshiney days and self affirmations.. Be strong. You can do it! Keep your eye on the prize!
