I typically get 3 to 5 hours of sleep per night, and after getting 12 hours yesterday and 10 hours today, I can safely say this is not worth doing. Even on just 3 hours of sleep, I wake up and actually wake up! On 10 hours of sleep, I wake up and it takes me 3 or 4 hours to reach a state of full awakeness. Even then, I feel sleepy after just 8 hours awake, versus 14+ hours on 3 hours of sleep. Getting more sleep than you’re used to is simply not worth doing.
On the other hand, I’d like to say that getting less sleep than you’re used to isn’t worth it either. I used to be on a regular schedule – 8PM every night to 5PM the next morning, 9 hours of sleep – and when I started staying up for over 20 hours at a time (roughly when I was 13) it hit me really hard. Basically, if you’re going to get a lot of sleep, or get very little sleep, stick with it, because your body can adapt to just about anything slowly, but it can’t adapt to much of anything overnight.

For future reference to anyone else who may attempt this, there’s a neat tactic to use for this. Find a position that’s recently been vacated in the middle of one term. For example, if a state congressman spot is only voted on every 4 years in your state, and some guy gets promoted 2 years into his term, the governor will appoint someone to serve those last 2 years. If you can get that appointment, you can run as an incombent, and you get all the benefits that go along with that. It’s a very effective way to grab 5 to 10 percent more of the vote when the next election comes around, as people like electing incombents.
Note, however, that you can’t use the phrase “re-elect” this way as you weren’t elected originally.

This is something I’d like to do. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. Let me be clear, though: Gnomes only.
I wouldn’t want any other mythical creature. A dragon would roast me, a unicorn would gut me, and things like elves would probably reverse the spell and make me their butler. I choose a gnome because they’re small and defenseless, and they’ve got no way to “overthrow” me. I’ve known other people to ask for Dwarves or Trolls, but Drarves have axes and Trolls are just too evil for me. Indeed, I’d pick a Gnome, and I don’t think there’s anything else I’d consider.
Even so, I’d have to admit, the odds of this happening any time soon are slim to none. One day, when Gnome Science (get it? Gnomes? i.e. those things made up of genes? hehe) can create one of these from nothing, You’d better believe I’m a buyer, but like I said, I don’t see that happening any time in the next 10 or 15 years. Likely not before I’m 40. And my hope is that, when I’m 40, I can afford a human butler.
