A lot of people whine about going on the tenure track. It’s much harder work than getting the PhD but so much more rewarding in terms of the respect you receive and the self-confidence you gain.

Academia is hardly the realm of the uber-rich but it’s nice to be pulling down a decent salary as well.

Get a PhD
Totally worth it 1 year ago

A gruelling, soul-sucking, confidence-destroying process. But once you’re done you’ll look back and wonder why it took so long. And you’ll have the satisfaction of knowing you’ve attained the very highest goal in your education.

Unfortunately, then you have to find a job and, if you choose academia, you’ll have to start again from the bottom.

But they can never take away your degree, and you’ll always feel a sense of pride for knowing you completed it.
