apply for jobs
I'm frustrated. 4 months ago

I have applied at at least 20 places and not one has called me back. The first place I went to get an application, I was able to set up an interview right away, thought it went well, but never got a phone call back. I’ve applied at Reebok, The GAP, Borders, Converse, Vanity Fair, and one other retail store that has blanked out in my head at the moment. I also applied at Bealls, Publix, McDonalds, Taco Bell, KFC (those fast food places having applications online), and tried Big Lots, but they wouldn’t even give me a form.

I went out to restaurants along a steady tourist area: Perkins, Ihop, Chilis, Cracker Barrel, TGI Fridays, Dennys, Cici’s Pizza, ARBY’S! Then I went to the little mall and applied at the Bealls outlet, Burlington Coat Factory and Fun Spot Jr. who told me that they’re not hiring, but let me fill out an application anyway.

Some of the restaurants were looking for hosts or servers, but a lot of them didn’t say they were even hiring right now. I’m seventeen years old, and I know the economy is tough, but it’s just really difficult for me to wrap my head around this. I didn’t attempt to get a job last summer because I wasn’t driving, and I wasn’t even in Kissimmee the whole time. It’s bad enough that gas prices started to go up drastically right after I got my license, but I can’t drive at ALL without a job.

I don’t mean to complain, and I’m not really, I just gotta keep applying. My parents suggested hotels, but I’m not sure that they’ll even consider a teenager with minimal job experience. I don’t have “connections” to be referred by someone. Neither of my parents work. They both collect social security disability but that covers basic things if that.

Times are tough, I get that.
I understand it, I just don’t like it.

So I took the driving test today and did perfect in just about everything. But when I backed out of a parking space on the course, I “hit a car” or a cone rather, with my mirror. The guy told me that otherwise I was good, and he’s sure I just forgot something or other terminology blahblah and to come back next week, they open on Monday. LMAO. “If at first you don’t succeed: try, try again.”

LOL. 6 months ago

So I had an eye doctor appointment at 7:50 this morning, got there at 8, and then had some time to spare before my dmv appointment for my driver’s test at 10:30. We just had our main bathroom remodeled in my house and it looks beautiful except for the fact that our contractor took out three tiles for no reasona and replaced them with ugly brown-gray layers of cement. SO, we stopped at a tile place to try and find out where we got our old tile from. It opened at 9 and we got there five minutes early. My mom decided to wait because a guy was outside and said he started working there yesterday and the guys should be there within a few minutes. 20 minutes later we decided to go to the other tile place because we were getting impatient. I had just turned the key to have air conditioning not two minutes before this was decided and my mother said I shouldn’t kill the battery. So then when we decided to go, I turned the ignition and heard something like this “vrrrrooooo…tickticktick”. FUCK, right? I get blamed for killing the BATTERY! So not only that, but when I first got there, I parked, and this dumbass took the handicapped spot who didn’t have one, and I was forced to take the only space left and had to park facing the main road before a ditch, really close to this white truck. NOT ONLY THAT! Turns out that we no longer have road side assistance and had to push the car ourselves back into a spot where we could wait for someone to come with jumper cables. So I got to experience putting the car in neutral and turning the wheel (that shit is hard!) The guy still waiting to work helped my mom push the car which was very interesting because there was an incline in the parking lot and like I said, we were parked close to this truck. But it worked and just as I park the car, the owner of the tile store comes out and says he has jumper cables. He opened the hood and said it was the accelerator (so it wasn’t my fault at least) and he remembered installing the tile in our kitchen, but didn’t have the tile for our bathroom. Needless to say, we had to take the car straight to the mechanic, I had to cancel my driver’s test because there was no way we would make it, and my stepdad wouldn’t let me use the durango for the test. Whatever. So I rescheduled for friday, (more school I’m missing) because the times to take it are from 10:15 to 3:00 and I stay after for musical rehearsal every day until 5. So I’ll take it in the morning in two days. If the car doesn’t break down again. HA :)
