I tried about two years ago, but my blood was too low in iron. I’ve been reminded of the need by the Victorian bushfire coverage, so I’ve reregistered to give it another try. I look after myself much better now, so hopefully my blood is good enough.

36. Getting older. I turn 21 next Sunday and I’m really excited about it. I feel like a much sexier, smarter, and generally happier person than this time last year.
37. Bodysurfing. I successfully did it for the first time today.
38. I Wanna Be Adored by The Stone Roses.
39. Suedehead by Morrissey.
40. Finally liberating myself from external and internal pressure to study a prestigious major when I’m not passionate about it and university.
41. Learning outside of the restrictive university setting.
42. Australia Day spent with wonderful foreigners, beer, and rain pissing down on the verandah roof.
43. Sunsets. Cliche, but seriously, go swimming at Bondi during a clear sunset, and even a complete scrooge will feel uplifted.

17. Girls on the street who look like Shane from The L Word. Yum. They’re too intimidating for me to approach them though, so they remain distant eye candy. Lol.
18. When my new French housemate did a big, innocent kiddy grin this morning. It made me realise how few adults smile like this.
19. Stolen kisses.
20. Cigarettes.
21. Borders
22. Squishy babies
23. Little-kid words like ‘goobies’ (boobies) and ‘front bottom.’
24. The way Twin B says ‘Begemite’ instead of Vegemite
25. Repeating myself a bit, but the way Twin A is so damn cool for a four-year-old. She has an incredible sense of humour and dances like Mick Jagger. If she was near my age I could really see us having wild nights out on the town singing karaoke and acting like boys.
26. Japanese people. They are just so adorable. I love how my housemates/local restaurant staff/etc always smile and tend to have a kooky sense of humour.
27. Omelette sushi
28. Giving up the ‘100 things that piss me off’ goal. This goal is 100 times better!
29. Reading about how other people have fallen in love, and the anticipation for when my chance comes around again.
30. My profile picture. All of Bjork’s Volta album art. It makes me feel so rapturously alive.
31. My first cold beer after my ill-fated attempt to become a red wine drinker instead. Beer really is the superior drink in Sydney summer. I’ll reattempt the wine thing in a more fitting surrounding, such as Melbourne winter or Europe.
32. Maltesers. I’m not normally crazy about cheap milk chocolate, but these are bliss.
33. Thierry Mugler’s Angel Fleur de Lys perfume. It complements my present age/life perfectly. It’s sexy but with a degree of youthful vulnerability and softness.
34. Hugo Boss Femme. This is my all-time equal favourite perfume, but I can see myself wearing it increasingly when I’m older. I feel like a bit of an imposter when I wear it aged 20, but at the same time its bold femininity gives me a confidence boost for special occasions. Perhaps the name has a psychological effect – I feel odd referring to myself as a ‘lady’ or ‘woman’. But whenever I try it on I feel amazing.
35. My German housemate. Everytime I see him he makes me laugh so much that I can literally feel the endorphins rushing through my body. The fact that we can giggle constantly doing quite mundane activities is really attractive. Company that makes me happy and giggly is essential in a partner. Only problem is he has a long-term GF so I’m not interested in acting on any chemistry between us. He has not-so-subtly hinted that he’s keen to end it, and she’s visiting Australia next week, so we’ll see. I’m pretty sure he’s going to end it with her, but on the other hand I’m unsure about my romantic vs. friendly feelings for him. But the possibility of something developing makes me happy for now, even if it never happens.
