I’ve been doing archery for 2+ years now and I love it. It’s fun right away, even before you’re any good at it (how many sports can you say that about?) It’s great for older people (two members of the 2004 US Olympic team were in their 50s) and disabled people (people in wheelchairs compete alongside people standing up). You don’t need a lot of strength. You do need to be able to focus, but that can be built up, like a muscle.
If you want to progress to competition, you must find a coach. The sooner the better—changing your form can be difficult!
What a great sport!
