I don’t have much opportunity for road trips spanning longer than half the day; college on weekdays, work on weekends. In turn, I don’t get to drive far(can only borrow parents’ car on weekend and evening).
There is little room to breathe as I am forced back into the same stressful and monotonous routine amongst 8 mil people crammed onto a small heavily trafficked island.
So I am now saving and thoroughly planning for my escape. Approx 8800 miles round trip, driving alone from New York to Alaska. I will: quit my job, leave 2-3 days after my last final; which gives me exactly 3 months until first day of fall semester. I can afford to eat and drink plenty but I will be sleeping in my car through most if not all of the 3 months (cheap campgrounds?). No cell phone, no computer, lots of photos and books and self-realization.
I think (temporarily) abandoning my life and a part of my identity may turn out to be the best to what is becoming unbearable stress and monotony.
I’m buying a car only for this trip, and intend to sell it once I return(don’t need it in real life).
