How I did it: When I originally posted "Getting Engaged" on 43 things, I was pretty much waiting for my boyfriend at the time to propose marriage. Turns out, he dumped me last July for someone else (and on MSN messenger to boot). One month later, I went out on a date, to pick myself up after the horrible break up. Turns out, the first person I met ended up being the love of my life. We took it slow at first, since we had both ju… Read how I did it…

I started in the beginning of the month with my goal to lose 20 lbs., and so far I’ve lost about 5-6 pounds. I know, it’s a process that takes months, but it’s so discouraging to be excited over a loss of only 1 pound after a week of exercising hard and cutting calories.
AGHHHH!!!
On the other hand, I’ve lost my taste for junk/fatty/sugary foods. I don’t miss these kinds of food at all. I do crave for it once in a while, and I usually end up eating it if I really need to have it. Otherwise, I just snack on something healthy like an apple and I don’t feel that craving anymore.
Started an online food journal on fitday.com, which is really helpful in tracking down exactly what I am eating every day, and how many calories I am consuming. I didn’t know that 1 Starburst fruit chew is 20 calories!
I figure that my biggest issue is exercising. In general, I eat a very good diet consisting of lots of fruits and vegetables, with an occasional treat (cookies, brownies, etc). But without exercise, I’ve been losing muscle mass, which in turn slows down my metabolism. I can no longer eat like a teenager (i.e.- whatever I want, when I want, without gaining a pound)...but I can at least help my metabolism along if I do some regular physical activity.
