As I was hanging around outside a hairdressers – I do it all the time, you should try it – one of the stylists came outside and asked me and my better half if we wanted free haircuts in exchange for having a few photos taken.

I’m that gorgeous.

Being poor students, we both readily agreed. Having nothing better to do, I also asked if I could get blue over blonde highlights, and they said that I could, for £20 on top of the free haircut. Bargain!

So my girlfriend got some rather lovely blonde highlights, whilst I got my hair cut short, spikey, and with some blue streaks cut into it. It looked good! The blue half washed out within a couple of days, but then stayed grey-green-blue for weeks on end. This was interesting, as I had to renew my passport with a new photo, and my hair still had a very definite blue tint.

Not sure I’ll still think it’s as cool when I’m at Heathrow aged 29… but hey, I’ll probably put it down to my lost youth.

Worth doing!

Basically, you get what you pay for. My tattoo only cost £30 for 45 minutes work, and it’s already starting to fade, less than 2 years after I got it. The black is not nearly as vibrant as it used to be. That said, I love telling people that I have a tattoo, and I love the tattoo itself still, so I would say it’s definitely worth doing. I’m going to get another one soon, a dragon that I partially designed myself, but this time I’m going to do my research and go somewhere with a reputation – Kaleidoscope in Leeds, or Tusk in London.

I want to get blue tips to my hair – I think they call it a “shoeshine”. I should be able to do this as soon as I quit my job and go to university – so it should be around mid-September time.

Does anyone think it’ll look good? Or dreadful?
