Bought a condo in October of 2002. Aside from the investment value, it’s been a great tax write-off, and homeownership has a nice warm fuzzy feeling. Bought the place with an 80-10-10, 30 year loan … that’s where you borrow 80%, put 10% down, and borrow another 10% in the form of a second mortgage. The nice thing about the 2nd mortgage is that it also serves as a HELOC (Home Equity Line of Credit), which means I can borrow against it, and write off the interest to boot.
A good book to read is ‘Home Buying For Dummies’
Oh, and if you live in San Francisco, I would highly recommend my realtor: Andrea Swetland.

Ended up creating a will through legalzoom.com It’s pretty cheap ($59) and easy to complete. My financial advisor (who incidentally holds a law degree) thought that the will created through the site was adequate. Another document to consider while you’re there is the ‘Power of Attorney.’ The one funny thing about the site is that’s it’s co-founder is Robert Shapiro, one of OJ’s lawyers.

Livin’ on a prayer – Bon Jovi. Ok,so I’ve only run a half marathon (I also sheepishly admit that I kinda like that Bon Jovi tune).
I ran my first half marathon (US Half San Francisco) on Oct 17, 2004, and geez that was a bit of training and mental endurance. I think I’d like to run a full marathon, but need to get a few more halfs under my belt.
