Time to try this again. 45 has come, and will be gone in May. Let’s get serious. The notes from 9 months ago remind me of the success that is possible with a little discipline. Most of the weight has stayed off, but the subcutaneous layer of fat still hides those abs. Probably need another 10-pound loss along with some more intense ab work.
Today, an 8-mile run followed by some ab work.

A few handfuls of jelly beans on Friday gave way to petits four and cheesecake Friday night, followed by cheesecake and chocolate medallions on Saturday night. My weight’s up 2 pounds, from 152 to 154. So much for moderation in all things. Looks like it’s back to eliminating all sweets.

The toughest task is walking past the black jelly beans on my secretary’s desk. When I first gave up sugar, she actually put a small box of the little buggers on MY desk (she was helping me truly realize the value of Lent, I guess). I definitely agree with a previous entry that recommends fresh fruit as an alternative. It really does seem to help.
In keeping with “moderation in all things,” I’m not worried about eliminating all vestiges of refined sugar from my diet. It’s enough to stay from the handfuls of jelly beans, cookies, or Little Debbie products that I used to snatch from the cubbard and shove into my mouth.
