The singularity is described by futurists and the like as the second industrial revolution.
Singularity – several different technologies which, if they reached a threshold level of sophistication, would enable the creation of smarter-than-human intelligence.
Exciting stuff…... also nanotechnology will surely have a major affect on life as we live it.
Just read some of drexlers or kurzweils books.

Yes, I hate to say it , but I am still only on the first book although I have seen the movies.
It is really exciting hearing about harrys adventures, the audiobook kicks butt over the movie , that is for sure.
