Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

No more litter!

Yes, this was definitely worth doing! I love having no litter box.
It took a couple months to fully train her, but the results are fabulous! Now if only she could learn to flush…

Yes! I finished it!!

It was fabulous! It took me a few months to read, since I have three kids ages 5 and under, but it was very worth it! Loved it!

Okay so we had a set back. A couple of accidents on the living room floor. Yuk. :( This was after the hole in the aluminum pan was about half the size of the pan. I guess she got a little nervous that there was no room for any litter. Which sent little miss kitty to spend her overnights locked in the bathroom, since she’d do it while i was sleeping. Now we’re back on track. The aluminum pan is entirely gutted. Just the frame remains. All her business goes directly into the toilet. I think the remains of the pan may be a comfort thing, so I’m going to wait a few days and then remove it and see if she’s okay with that.

Halfway done!

Loving it!

2 Months!!

Today it’s been two months since I started to floss and I am very proud to say that I have not missed one single day!!!!!! :)

learn braille and then read an entire book in braille

for some reason i have always wanted to learn sign language and braille. i don’t know why. i have taught my kids a lot of sign language but i would love to be entirely fluent in it. i would love to learn braille and be able to read an entire book in braille.

Participate in a Month of Softies

A great feeling of crafty accomplishment! :)

One Month!

Wow…As of today, I have gone 4 weeks flossing, without skipping a single day! It feels great…my teeth really do feel cleaner!

stop slouching
I am slouching as I write this...

I used to have perfect posture. Now I sit at the computer like a hunchback. It’s awful. Once I check off my flossing goal, this one will be the next to work on! :)

Write a novel, beginning to end
It doesn't even have to be published!

I have so many novels that I have begun and not really delved into. I just want to complete one, start to finish. For myself!

learn to ballroom dance
Watching "Dancing With the Stars"...

has really made me want to do this! I’ve always wanted to, and I actually did do some ballroom dancing classes as a kid. It’s something I look forward to doing once my children are older.

Two weeks now!

I have flossed for 14 days without skipping a day! It is definitely becoming habit!

My 5 year old son woke me up this morning telling me that Sophie was going poop in the toilet! :) Yaaayyy!!! But he said that she had all her paws in the litter, not on the seat. So we’ll have to work on that. And the aluminum pan is a little shaky in there…I don’t know how to stabalize it more. It’s the closest size I could find. Anyway, just happy that we’re going in the right direction!

One step closer...

...I hope.

I just put the aluminum pan with litter in the toilet…Sophie looked at me like I was crazy.

Let’s hope this works!!

7 days and counting...

okay so I have flossed for seven consecutive days now. i do believe that is a record for me…an entire week in a row! i have always had floss fall apart on me because i do not have any spaces between my teeth. this time i bought GLIDE floss which works beautifully.

Step Three: Start Book...Check!

Hey…I’m so sorry, I couldn’t wait. I finished my other book and was having reading withdrawls. I read the first chapter yesterday. Did you get a copy of the book yet?

Raised the litter box

Okay today I raised the box about one inch. Seems so insignificant, but will take it slow like they say to. (I placed a small phone book under the box.)

Step two: Receive book...check!

omg this book is enormous. it’s over 1,000 pages which isn’t such a big deal except that the type is microscopic and i will need a magnifying glass to read it. and there are no spaces between the lines, so basically it’s a 2,000 page book. it will take me a lifetime to finish, since i have three kids aged 5 and under and don’t have enough time to read as it is! this better be good!! i’m reading mixed reviews on the book. i really loved We The Living, so i hope that’s some sort of positive indication.

Find out what the little pockets on cats' ears are for
Anyone know?

You know that little pocket on the sides of cats ears? What the heck is that for?!

See a movie in a drive-in
Oh Definitely Worth Doing!

But it would have to be those old timer ones, where you hang the speaker on your car window…not the crappy ones where you have to have your car radio turned on. Great fun…Don’t know why they aren’t around much anymore.
