Escrow was supposed to close on April 24. It is now July 11th. I have learned that buying a brand new house is not as simple as it sounds. There may not be work to do, but man there is a lot of waiting for all the city permits!
The city civil engineer left the plans on his desk for two months because he was retiring and didnt feel like working. It finally got done AFTER he officially retired. Now getting the work orders for the sewer and the utilites is taking forever. I have a newfound hatred for Los Angeles. Thank goodness we were able to move our belongings into the garage. It makes living in the guest room of my parents house a little bit easier. Not fun having clothes in three separate rooms because there is no closet for us though!
It has been the hardest not to buy furniture, etc for the new home. Ooops…we bought a piano already because of the 4th of july sale and they are storing it for us at the store. We are storing brand new washer and dryer in the garage.
We also missed out on the 10k tax incentive. Sometimes it makes me want to cry. But the builder is going to build us a kitchen island to make us feel a little better.
Supposedly we can close in 10 days. I sure hope so because I am hosting a bridal shower on Aug 15th! Eeek!
Reading the entries inspired me to really stop. There were some good ideas, but not all of them would work for me. I tried acryllic nails…and well, I still picked. It wasn’t as satisfying, but there was still damage. I wear hats when I can, but I will take it off and “sneak” when no one’s watching. I take off headbands too, as well as barrettes.
SO I am going to try and use Neosporin/antibiotic cream. I am going to put it on a few times a day to the sore spots. This will help them heal faster (fingers crossed) AND keep the spot mushy so that picking isn’t really possible. Any one tried this? Today it is working.
If that doesnt work, I will have to quit my job as an LA County social worker. I take anxiety medicine which helps me a TON, with the picking being the only tendency left over.
