Well, I started out as just vegan-curious after years as an ovo/lacto vegetarian who occasionally ate fish. Eventually, knowing that the commercial dairy industry supports the veal industry became too bothersome for me to carry on. I vowed to start slowly (partially for my boyfriend’s sake, since I didn’t want to shock his taste buds too much), cooking a couple vegan meals a week to see how it went. But as soon as I started, I thought, “This isn’t too tough at all” and I’ve quickly adapted to my choice. I have eaten dairy a couple times and thought to myself, “I don’t need this to live.” I’m still working toward being completely leather and wool free but I’m just committed to doing my best every day. I feel great and think this is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.
