We jumped off waterfalls all of the time when I was a teenager, but sometimes people died. We never cared about the danger then, but seeing it on the news as an adult is scary!
In Pennsylvania there are a lot of abandoned quarries due to flooding… unexpected flooding… which means all of the quarry equipment is still underneath the water. I’m talking large quarry equipment! So besides worrying about large boulders, you may die by jumping onto a large underwater machine! Ouch…
Please always have someone check the “swimming hole” at the bottom of a waterfall to check for any immediate danger, and that doesn’t mean there isn’t any if you don’t see or feel any!
Every summer in South Eastern, PA someone dies from jumping off a waterfall or dam… so please be careful!

I had been across the Atlantic Ocean, and even traveled to Mexico, but I had never left the Eastern Time Zone! (USA) Craziness… I know…
So in the Summer of 2004, I bought a used 23 foot Mini RV and drove across country, with my boyfriend and two cats!
10,000 miles and 11 National Parks... Wow!
I highly recommend it, however… you must remember you are taking a miniature house with you… houses come with chores… including dealing with the plumbing hook-up! I hope you like poo tubes! (That is what I now affectionately call the sewer hose.) Yes, I said poo, ewwww!
With that in mind, it was still a very rewarding experience, and we went RVing again in North Carolina (August 2005.) I am excited to start writing about it on 43 places!
Unless you are planning to RV for more than 3-4 weeks, or want to bring your pets, or are smokers, it may be more affordable to rent an RV!
