So I look here for the latest entry, AND ITS NOT EVEN THIS MONTHS! LOL. Thats because teachers are busy.
I am trying to be a better teacher. I need to look up stuff for my kids to do, hands on activities, so they do not get bored with the science. I teach HS biology and physical science. They want all students to be writing proficient (all kids, ELL and Special Ed) and be ready for state testing. So that means I run out of time to do the hands on fun stuff.
So hard to plan a lab to do in 1 period as well. So this is why I need to be a better teacher. To teach my kids science, and maybe to get them to love science, while still preparing them for the state TESTS!
Yucky state test!

Well my 2nd week at the gym is done. I have for 2 weeks, gotten up at 4:40am, worked out, then went to work. I work out 6 days a week.
My goal is to lose weight, of course, but also NOT TO GAIN WEIGHT! Well I weighed myself today and while I did not lose any weight, I did not gain any weight either, so thats good.
I really need to work on my 2nd goal of eating better. That way I can lose weight. I plan to follow a diabetic diet. I EVEN bought a book (please do not roll your eyes here). It has been shown that people who have fat around their midsection can develop type 2 diabetes. It has to do with the body becoming resistance to its own insulin. And since diabetes pretty much can wreck a person up (If they don not take care of themselves) then I think a little preventative maintenance would be good!
I am also planning on taking up yoga in addition to working out. Its called Birkum ( <—Totally misspelled) yoga. I call it sweaty yoga because you work out in a steamy/heated room.
So hopefully I will have some weight loss on week 3!

So I live in SoCal and the housing prices are around 500,000 for houses that have too many problems. I know I’m being picky BUT I don’t want to spend half a million (more with interest and fees)for a house that I would then need to take out a loan to repair or update.
So, essentially, I have not made any progress with this goal.

So I have gone back to the gym. I was going semi regularly from Sept to Dec. I stopped going in Dec because I got sick, then work got busy, and then I just couldn’t get enough sleep. I would go to bed at a normal time, but need more sleep. Since I go to the gym in the morning I found it really hard to wake up. So I essentially stopped going. A friend of mine told me it was the winter blahs!
So since I am on spring break I decided to give it a try again. I have to! I have to lose weight. I am 37 and I don’t want to head off into my 40’s battling weight. I think the older you get the harder it is to lose weight, so I need to lose NOW!
I have started with 40 minutes of elliptical every day. Then I alternate the following workout:
Mon/Wen/Fri – Thigh abductor and ham strings (lower body)
Tues/Thurs/Sat – Dip Assist – Chin assist-ups for arms, butterflies, Neck exercises (I had whiplash a few years back and if I don’t do these regularly I get headaches and neck aches) and back extensions (I think thats what its called)
So I alternate upper body and lower body weight training. I can only stay at the gym about an hour and 10 minutes. So thats why the weight portion of my workout is so small.
I’m happy with myself right now. I have been able to wake up to go the gym at 4:40am WITHOUT the alarm. This basically means that I am getting enough sleep. So the next step is to make healthier eating choices.

I’m very happy to have finished BTSA. It is a stress reliever to not have that hanging over my head. I can now concentrate on my teaching ability and I will even earn a little more $$!
