I have to admit it. I’m addicted lolcats. I get the daily feed on my bloglines, and there’s always something there to make me laugh.

How I did it: Our church was having a blood drive, and since I'd never done it before, I thought I'd do it. I read the paperwork (which had little info about side effects!), signed in, and had blood drawn. Since I was evidently dehydrated, after I donated I had what they called a "bad reaction"... Read how I did it…
First, a neighbor. She and her husband tend to be quiet, keep to themselves, and that’s okay. We’ve said hi once or twice, nothing major. In the past week two neat things have happened. First, when I was out working in my flower bed last weekend she came to the fence and asked what I was growing, and listened attentively as I rattled off the list, commenting appreciatively. Then last night she carried out one of her big housecats for us to meet, which I thought was cool. In a neighborhood that can be a bit clique-ish, it was refreshing and hopeful …
Second, a stranger. I had been trying to Freecycle some items, and one person had committed, and then had been unable to pick up multiple times, but had always communicated this with me. One of the downsides to these giveaway/sale situations is a lack of considerate communication between parties. So finally I offered to bring the items to her at home. Her car was broken down, she had multiple kids, one disabled, etc.
I’m not writing this because I was feeling terribly altruistic. I just wanted to get rid of the stuff. But when I drove up to her house this morning and saw 2 or 3 kids’ faces grinning at the door, and then finally met the woman and found her to very pleasant, it really made my day. I felt thankful that I had stuff to give away that someone could use.
or at least tapering back.
For the first part, I found that I’ve actually gained 5 pounds, something I didn’t anticipate (or need). And second, I did get up to 60 mintues on the bike, but it got really hard getting up that early, and took time away from other things I needed to do in the morning.
Sooo … I’m hoping to get back to 45 minutes a day, and maybe keeping a tighter eye on what I’m eating …
