Eat Herrell's ice cream while sitting on the Bridge Street wall in Northampton Mass.
summer yum 16 months ago

Herrell’s is a Northampton institution. The inventor of the smoosh-in, Herrell’s ice cream has seen competitors come and go. Herrell’s ice cream is rich and the flavors are pure. If you want the whole experience, eat your cone while sitting on the wall across the street.

My friend Josh just recently completed a trip around the entire United States. And he said that this is the best restaurant that he and his fiancee ate at during the entire trip.

Just saw a segment about this on New England Cable News. Looks like a total blast. http://www.skiwildcat.com/ziprider.html and they also have a blog about the ZipRider here: http://ziprider.blogspot.com/ Apparently there is also a ZipRider in Utah.

Drive the Ideal Section of the Lincoln Highway from Dyer to Schererville Indiana
Long Lost Lincoln Highway 2 years ago

I had never heard of the Lincoln Highway until I saw the guest on tonight’s episode (8/30/07) of the Colbert Report. He’s written a book about it. Here’s wikipedia’s article about the Lincoln Highway. Here’s a link to a book about it: Lincoln Highway.

See the Yankees at Yankee Stadium
LOUD LOUD LOUD WOOOOOO 2 years ago

Wow, Yankee Stadium is a freaking trip!!!! Totally worth it. Drove down from Western Mass with my Red Sox-loving office crew in a minivan to see Dice-K and the Red Sox take on Petitte and the Yanks. It was a great time, and VERY interesting to see Yankee Stadium in person. Much different than on TV. Now I understand how you can hit a triple in the leftfield-centerfield gap…. plus how you can hit homers down right down either line… it’s practically like having Fenway’s Pesky Pole in BOTH corners. And the stadium was about 2/3 or maybe 3/4 full, and it was LOUD… I can’t imagine how that house must rock when it’s full and a playoff game!!!! It was fun even though the Sox lost. Our seats were on the very last/top row of the Stadium, behind home plate, and it was still a very good view.

Ride the Seattle/Bainbridge Island ferry
Spectacular! Wow! 2 years ago

Taking the ferry over to Bainbridge Island is beautiful, especially at sunset or at night. I highly recommend doing it, if just for the views of the Seattle skyline that you’ll enjoy. And Bainbridge Island is beautiful as well. When I rode the ferry for the first time in May of 2007, there were several photographers with tripods taking pictures of Seattle. The boat itself is not particularly special, it’s the views that make this definitely worth doing.

see the statue of David in Florence
There's NOTHING like the real thing 2 years ago

The amazing thing about the real statue of David…. is that it looks like he is ALIVE… that he is BREATHING… that at any moment he will step down off his pedastal and TALK to you…. you must see the REAL David in the Academmia Gallery, not the replica in his original spot on the Palazzo Vecchio.

Using billion dollar military satellites.... 2 years ago

...to find tupperware hidden in the woods is immensely satifying! Seriously, it’s a blast! I disagree with someone else here who said there has to be good prizes at the end… that’s silly, it’s all about the hunt! I enjoy it for a number of reasons… 1.) It’s like a worldwide treasure hunt. 2.) It gets you out to places you would never go otherwise. 3.) It combines a geeky-cool tech toy (GPS navigator) with hiking and web sites. 4.) You meet interesting people who also enjoy using billion-dollar military satellites to find tupperware hidden in the woods. 5.) You see the region around where you live in a whole new light. 6.) You can use it as a way to find places to explore far away from where you live…
