Read the "1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die"
Getting started 2 years ago

This sounds like a cool goal, so here I go. I got the list and found I already read:

93. Memoirs of a Geisha – read around when movie came out
199. Cat’s Eye
209. The Long Dark Teatime of the Soul – finished after first posting yesterday.
223. Beloved
242. The Handmaid’s Tale
301. The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
312. The Shining – More than once
320. Interview with a Vampire – own and read often
390. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? – AKA Blade Runner (had to read in college english)
397. The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test
408. In Cold Blood
436. One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest
456. To Kill a Mockingbird
484. On the Road
508. Lord of the Flies
521. The Old Man and the Sea
608. Of Mice and Men
610. The Hobbit
619. Gone With the Wind
794. Dracula
801. The Yellow Wallpaper (read it online)
863. Little Women
873. Les Misérables
876. Great Expectations – I think I read in High School

So about 2 dozen I am sure I read at some point and there are at least a couple of dozen more that I can’t remember if I read entirely or just saw the movie. Sadly I know the story line but still can’t recall all of it for the life of me. I am going to try at my small town library to get about 4 or 5 today so that I can get started. I hope to finish in the next year or two as I have a habit of reading about a dozen books a month if allowed.

Edited to add a book I read yesterday after starting this goal.

Make Firefox my default browser
So worth it! 3 years ago

With this weeks recent “update” from MS IE has stopped handling any plugins and acts goofy at best. I already had FF on my computer and made it the default for everyone in my family. FF has never had as many problems as IE, except on one website which acts goofy in different ways on both browsers.
Step off from the MS monopoly and move into the Firefox revolution!

find a career not a job
career vs job 3 years ago

The way I see it finding a job is something you do to make money. There is no real attachment to what you do – ie. fast food – most people get a job there and move on in a few years, no meaning to ever stick around, even the “lifers” are looking for something better. To me a career is long term and fulfills dreams or makes you happy to do. My dad worked a job for 30+ years, and I remember him telling me he hated math but he was an accountant. I don’t want to do that. I know right now I want it to be in computers, but from there I am so lost.
