This item is going nowhere

Join a club was one of the original 43 things to do this year. I haven’t even looked into clubs yet.

I’d like the club to be something interesting – but apart from a sporting club I can’t think of anything.

This could be as difficult as I thought

Got the Vikings wrapup/pissup next friday for my soccer club. The night spends all the fines money we collect during the year. Which means I’ve contributed $90 and don’t get to partake in the festivities. Going there sober is a little depressing, so I was looking for another option.

One just popped up 10 minutes ago – some friends want to get together for a beer and chips night. Bugger – Stu’s homebrew rocks.

Plus Kel’s bday is coming up – but I’m just going to have to grip it up and tough it out. Gulp…

Starting 28 Sep 07… that means my next drink is on 4 Dec 07.

It can be done.

Well we did go to turkey – found some cheap flights so three of us headed on down to constantinopole and gallipoli for a few days.

And guess what – turkey was great!

T Mobile - you are on the blacklist

We used this internet provider at Munich Bahnhoff and 15 minutes later we couldn’t do anything so we gave up on them.

T Mobile sucks.

Gave the cleaner at Cairo airport £100

As I was wondering around cairo airport looking for the newsagent a cleaner noticed i was carrying some postcards. She chased me down “Mister… Mister”. Then pointed to some mailboxes I’d missed on the wall.

About an hour later I gave her all the egyptian pounds i had left. Even though this could be seen as a reward I see both acts as random acts of kindness.

Egyptian men suck

We are just finishing up a holiday in Egypt and I have to add Egytpian men to the blacklist. They are horrible. Generally they just bug me with their pushiness and lack of manners – but the attitude to women is just amazing.

One of our friends was pulled into bushes near Aswan but managed to fight the guy off. The guy did it in view of over 20 other local guys and not one did anything to help. Our guide couldn’t have cared less. Arab men suck – either treat women with respect and as equals or introduce national sterilisation plans

Dispense 31 Random Acts of Kindness in the next 31 days (read all 21 entries…)
Offered to share our table at the Kool Kat Klub.

We managed to snag a table at a very busy gig. There was a couple a couple of metres behind us who had got some seats, but no table, so we offered them to join us.

They declined – but we did make the offer!

Go to a show at the Festival Centre
Sistashe and Dwight Adams

We went to see Sist-she which is a female duo doing hiphop comedy. They are very funny – and great entertainers. The best bit was because the show is part of the Adelaide Cabaret Festival – the crowd was an arty, mainly 50-60yo, intellectual, snobbish type. I doubt anyone in the room other than kj and I had ever been to a hip hop gig, let alone heard of sistashe.

The Inner Thigh and Whatareyougirlsdoing were the highlights.

Afterwards we went to the casino to kill the hour before Dwight Adams and his band in the Kool Kat lounge. We came out about $20 down from the casino, then went to the lounge early. We were lucky to get a good table, but had to wait 45mins for the show to start.

Dwight is a 50yo or so black newyorker who looks to have been in Australia for yonks. His music is mainly covers of James Brown type music – but he did through in some Peter Gabriel sledgehammer which was cool. Good act – but by the break in the middle of his act I was buggered so we headed home.

get a new hat
Almost ticked off - then disaster!

Kj knitted me a cool new beanie which I was going to cheat and use as my “new hat”. So the plan last night was to come home and tick this one off.

Then disaster strikes! We went to Monarto Zoological Park outside Adelaide and I lose my West cap. So now I have no cap and I really really need a new hat.

Luckily the zoo rocked – the best bit was the giraffe and zebra part. We went through there 5 times. The best bit was when there wer just 6 of us on the bus and giraffes came up and blocked the road so we sat their with them about 2 metres from the side of the bus. Amazing…
