I enjoy energy drinks mostly for the taste as I have a high caffeine tolerance and smoke cigarettes anyway. (I’m pretty sure my heart is begging for mercy at this point.) Before I moved away from cafes that were walking distance from home, I’d only have an energy drink once every couple of months. Now I’m drinking them every day and it’s really hurting my wallet.
While I already drink a lot of tea (one or two pots of caffeinated, the rest decaf), I’m hoping the purchase of a water heater appliance will help stay my like for energy drinks. I’m also moving to a location that has easier access to local cafes, which will help because I’d much rather have a cheap, small cup of coffee out in the open than hole up at home nursing a 15 oz can of Red Bull during the morning hours.

I am neither diabetic nor overweight, but for the few months I did follow the glycemic index diet, I felt a lot better day to day because my blood sugar wasn’t bouncing all over the place. One could say I unconsciously still follow the diet to some extent, as I seldom eat outside the low GI range, but unfairly a lot of junk food is actually listed under low GI so I’d like to phase those out consciously.

I am sadly more in love with how books look like on a book shelf than anything else. A few years ago I stopped buying books that weren’t Star Trek-related in a feeble attempt to buy books I knew I’d actually be interested in and read. While I have made a small dent on my collection, I have this terrible habit of buying two or three new ones each time I find myself at the store.
Factor in that I no longer commute, I have no real opportunity to read these books anymore yet I still purchase them. Having to pack all these books for an upcoming move upstate, I’ve realised the sheer amount I haven’t read and it’s saddening.
It’s tempting instead to sit in front of the telly, as I have hands free enough to knit or crochet, but I think I will try cutting back on TV time and start reading again instead. Or perhaps making it a regular habit to go to a local cafe and read there, so the lure of the television/computer are no longer threats to my attention span.
